An automation is a trigger, conditions and one or more steps. Each step waits, then sends an email. Exit rules and the re-entry setting control who stays in.

Build your own automation

  1. Click "New automation"Everything is on one screen, top to bottom: trigger, conditions, steps, exit rules and re-entry.
  2. Pick a triggerChoose an event trigger or a time-based trigger.
  3. Add conditions (optional)Pick a field, an operator and a value. Combine conditions with AND or OR, with one level of grouping.
  4. Add stepsA step is a wait plus an email. The email starts from the trigger's library template with your brand applied.
  5. Turn it onUse the Test button first to run the automation on a real cart or customer and see pass or fail for each condition.

Conditions

  • Fields: order total, products or collections, discount used, tags, total spent, order count, country or city, marketing consent.
  • Operators: equals, not equals, greater than, less than, contains, in list, empty.
  • Each step can have its own skip condition.
  • A cancel check stops emails that no longer apply, for example an abandoned cart email is cancelled when an order is placed.
  • Conditions can optionally be checked again at send time.

Exit rules and re-entry

  • Exit rules: ordered, unsubscribed, bounced, or a custom condition.
  • Re-entry: once only, every time (but never while the customer is already in it), or once every N days.

Frequency cap and quiet hours

Set a frequency cap per customer and quiet hours in Settings. Marketing emails respect both and are held until the next allowed time. Transactional emails bypass both.

Editing a live sequence

  • Before you save, a warning shows how many customers are inside the sequence.
  • A changed step affects customers who have not reached it yet.
  • A deleted step is skipped. An added step affects customers who are not past it.
  • Emails already queued use the new template but keep their original schedule.
  • You can pause a sequence at any time.
